The BackBlast:

Five pax started the day with a beautiful sunrise over the sands of our imaginary arena  for a Gladiator-themed beatdown.  We poured out plenty of sweat to the concrete gods.
Conditions: 70ish and clear, i.e. no excuses.
Warmup:
  • Indian run around the parking lot
  • 20 x Windmills
  • 20 x Weed Pickers
  • 20 x Michael Phelps
  • 20 x High kicks
  • 20 x Mountain climbers
  • Deconstructed Mucho Chesto:
    • 5 x Merkins (IC = 2x OYO)
    • 5 x Werkins
    • 5 x Diamond Merkins
    • 5 x Stagger Left
    • 5 x Stagger Right

MOBS (in pairs, Dora style with one pax always running out and back):
  • 200 Merkins
  • 150 Overhead presses w/ coupon
  • 100 Burpees
  • 50 Squat jumps
Pax Choice Mobile Coupons:
Mosey to the sidewalk.  Each pax had an opportunity to pick a stationary block exercise and a way of traveling across the parking lot to the opposite sidewalk.
  • Wham-O – 3-point curls + rifle carry
  • Flo – 3-point curls + shoulder carry
  • Folgers – overhead press + weighted lunges
  • Lucy – weighted squats + shoulder carry
We ran out of time for YHC’s turn, so we missed out on bear crawl block drags.  Next time…
Sweaty Moleskin:
  • To quote Maximus from Gladiator, “Brothers, what we do in life… echoes in eternity.”
  • The Spotify algorithm gods were unkind to us and only played the slow, brooding songs from the Gladiator soundtrack, then some weird-a$$ classic rock after exhausting our skips and switching playlists.  The accompaniment rightly received some ridicule from the pax.
  • T-claps to Lucy for pushing through a difficult beatdown and being an inspiration to the rest of us!
