The BackBlast:
This BackBlast is for last Saturday’s Co-Q with Stroke Seat, but to stay on theme with my college career, better to turn it in late than not at all!
Small warmup to get the blood pumpin’, followed by an indian run lap around the field.
Thang: Stroke Seat
Stroke Seat started us off with a version of suicides, which included a 20yd sprint, a set of burpees, and a 20yd sprint back to start. The burpees were performed in sets of 2, 4, 8, and 16. Then we mosey’d to the pavilion.
3 rounds of the following exercises, performed for 21 reps each time:
- Dips
- Incline Merkins
- Freddy Mercury’s
Thang: Frenchy
YHC decided to pay homage to my least favorite part of college…the dreaded Group Project. This was accomplished through a 3-man Dora. One group member would act as a timer by running out 25yd and back while one of his group members worked on 200 Imperial Squatters, and the other completed Alternating Shoulder Taps in the meantime. When the runner got back, group members would rotate.
Now…we must wait for our grade. As any college student knows, sometimes waiting on a grade can be more frustrating than the actual assignment, because there is usually no structured timeframe. To mimic this, the PAX performed Bat Wings, which is a series of arm circles with no rest or recovery in between. The following exercises were performed in a 4-count cadence, for 21 reps.
- Little Arm Circles forward
- Little Arm Circles backward
- Big Arm Circles forward
- Big Arm Circles backward
A “project” similar to the first one was then assigned which consisted of the group rotating through 150 Merkins, Mountain Climbers, and the last group member lunge walking half the previous distance as the timer.
As a “Final Exam”, the PAX performed 2 minutes of as many Freddy Mercury’s as they could, and maintained a count of their completed reps.
However, since some PAX bombed the Final, Professor Frenchy allowed all PAX to retake an alternate final (2 minutes of Ankle Taps), in which they must surpass their former grade, or risk failing the class (burpee penalty). All “students” pulled out impressive scores to finish the semester.
As we gathered for the COT, Stroke Seat and Frenchy took turns sharing a few words on how much F3 Classic City means to us. In short: we are incredibly proud of the growth this region has experienced, and grateful for the sense of community that it has provided us in our last years at UGA.
Graduating PAX
- Stroke Seat (Andrew Leigh) graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Wham-O (Randy Nance) graduated with a BBA in Business Management
- Frenchy (Ryan Nance) graduated with a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance
