The BackBlast:

Conditions: Mid-50s under a starry sky – doesn’t get much better.
With Saddle Sore’s VQ unexpectedly postponed due to a 2.0 collarbone injury, YHC pulled out a smattering of partner exercises I’ve been wanting to reintroduce to the pax.  After some opening commentary on how bougie the Oconee County Parks & Rec bathrooms are compared to the old days in Philly, four chipper blokes and one salty Cheesesteak gathered ’round in the gloom to take their #DailyRedPill.
Warmup
  • 30 x side straddle hop (IC)
  • 20 x weed pickers (IC)
  • 20 x toy soldiers (IC)
  • 20 x big arm circles (IC)
  • 20 x Chinooks (IC)
  • 20 x Moroccan nightclub (IC)
  • 20 x Cherry pickers (IC)
The Thang
  • 2 x Partner wheelbarrow – sidewalk to first cone, flapjack, back to start, rinse and repeat
  • 20 x Partner Derkins – feet on partner’s back, alternate up and down
  • 30 x Iron Cross (each partner) – on your 6, hold partner’s ankles behind your head and do leg raises while standing partner pushes feet down
  • 20 x Pattycake Merkins
  • 20 x Table jumps (OYO)
And for our second course, a steaming helping of Doracides, Dora 1-2-3’s cray cray twin sister:
  • Same concept as the regular Dora, 2 pax work together to reach cumulative exercise goals but running 4-cone suicides instead of cross-field running.
    • 100 Merkins
    • 200 squats
    • 300 lunges
  • YHC, Sandworm and Cheesesteak partnered up and increased the reps by 50% (150-300-450), while Rookie and Billy Goat did the reg’lar rep counts.

Sweaty Moleskin:

  • Closed with an encouragement to lean on your brothers when life gets hard and not try to tough it out.  We’re not made for isolation, and there are often few settings where it feels safe for men to get real and vulnerable outside of the CoT, so take advantage of it.
  • YHC challenged the pax with an idea from the ATL pax – a Man Date Mandate.  Part of our Fellowship core value is in a group format, but 1-on-1 fellowship is also vital.  You can’t fully rely on and trust another man if you barely know him outside the gloom.  Pick a pax or two you want to get to know better, and get lunch or coffee.  Ask them about their story, their family, their values.  Now get after it!
