The BackBlast:

So it all starts like this…YHC had hoped to come to the launch, but plans were scuttled due to family constraints. So YHC sent Drone a note, which Drone immediately followed with an invitation to Q when I was able to join. After much deliberation with the M, October 10 was settled as the date.

Speedo from the Alpha agreed to join me, and at 0530 we headed for the Classic City. Along the way, we wondered how many would join us in the rainy gloom. Upon arrival,  we found the lot, and a pre-run crew came around the corner shortly after. As 0700 approached, a string of PAX came in with Swamp Crotch making it just in time to put us at 13. 0700, YHC issued the disclaimer and we were off.

Mosey through the River Rd lot, out to River Rd and make a left toward Ramsey Center. Circle up on the island for warmup

  • SSH
  • Weedpicker
  • Hillbilly
  • Copperhead Squat

Rain picked up a little during the warmup, but the PAX weren’t intimidated at all. Short mosey to the gloriously empty bottom floor of the Ramsey deck.

Bearway to Heaven:

  • Start at starting line
  • Bearcrawl 2 parking spaces in length
  • Bearcrawl back to starting line
  • 7 burpees
  • Rinse and repeat 6 more times, incrementing by 2 additional parking spaces in length and decrementing by 1 burpee each time.

Yeah…this sucked. Drone led the way and I believe he even took it to 16 parking spaces bearcrawl and 0 burpees, then kept going. Stroke Seat kicked off some Mary for the 6 until all were in.

YHC thought it would be good to check the weather, so suggested a journey to the top. Sprint the ramps, 24 lunges around the corner, then jog to the bottom of the ramp and hold for the 6. Various exercises were called while we waited. At the top, we emerged to a very light drizzle. To help us commune with the rain, YHC called for…

Captain Thor:

  • 1 BBSU, 4 American Hammers
  • 2 BBSU, 8 American Hammers
  • Continue increasing in 1:4 ratio until we completed 10 BBSU, 40 American Hammers

The PAX were now sufficiently wet, so no reason to get back under cover. It may have been raining, YHC was too delirious to notice.

Pyramid:

To finish things out, we completed a pyramid with a lap around the top level of the deck in between sets.

  • 5 V-Ups (it had been almost 2 minutes since we worked our abs)
  • 10 Merkins
  • 15 Jump Squats
  • 20 Overhead Claps

With time getting tight, we moseyed across the parking deck to take the stairs down to the Ramsey surface lot, across the street to Rooker Hall, then a left across the quad toward the flag. YHC reminded Princess that all of the people in the dorms were still asleep while we were crushing this workout. That’s a great feeling. A few PAX ran the ramps down the parking deck and we all made it back to the flag for some Mary. We started out with Burpees for the 6 and worked in Star Jumps, Hello Dollys, Dying Cockroach, and maybe something else? The clock struck 0800 before any more pain could be dealt. Fin.

Circle of Trust:

We named Grinder. Flo is looking for one more HC for the Atlanta Ragnar to be held in April. There will be Alpha and Cherokee groups at a minimum, so looks like a great opportunity to meet PAX from other regions. Speaking of which, Alpha convergence next Saturday at Wills Park at 0630. It’s a trek but we would love to see you. Stroke Seat is an HC. Also, jump on the shirt orders here. 13 days left to get yours in.

In the Alpha, we like to say that the beatdown is the best part of your day. I normally agree, but I’ll admit that gameday in Athens probably tops this beatdown. YHC was smoked! I hope the PAX enjoy some well-earned relaxation while they watch the Dawgs play.

Great to be back in my hometown (and college town) and see how F3 is growing there. It was a privilege to jump in and lead these men. I know there are a lot more sad clowns out there, so keep EHing! I’ll be back soon (but according to Flo I’m not allowed to Q next time). SYITG
